Bachelors in Information Systems SecurityToday, information systems are more accessible than ever: Advanced computer networks, the Internet and wireless systems give employees, customers and suppliers access to information from virtually anywhere. But every advancement in accessibility creates a new challenge in the field of Information Systems Security. Malicious hackers, devastating computer viruses, and the possibility of terrorist threats are just a few of the potential security breaches faced by today's System Administrators. And no organization is immune to the danger. Developing and deploying countermeasures that protect information systems from these threats is one of the most critical challenges in the information technology workplace. The Information Systems Security program is designed to provide students with advanced security skills required to implement e-business solution security policies, identify security threats, develop countermeasures using firewall systems and attack recognition technologies, and manage the deployment of security solutions. In addition, the combination of management and general education courses in the program helps students to apply skills in general management, critical thinking, logic, communications, and problem solving to management challenges in a technical environment. The program helps prepare students for entry-level roles in the Information Systems industry, including network server administrators, firewall administrators, systems administrators, and IT security officers. Upon successful completion of the Information Security, Bachelor of Science program, students should be able to: - Use workstation tools to secure a client platform.
- Use enterprise administration tools to secure a large-scale network
- Analyze business requirements including strategies, structures and processes to identify security risks and design strategies to protect the business from intruders.
