The art of animation has propelled the entertainment industry for decades. And now animation has become an important element of many Web sites and other commercial applications. This program will give you hands-on experience on the same equipment used by professionals as well as a portfolio of work that will help you get a job after graduation.

The Bachelor of Science in Animation equips students with the skills necessary to enter the field of animation. This program covers topics such as the laws of human motion, physics, psychology as applied to 2D or 3D characters, life drawing and rendering techniques, and the application of audio and video to an animation project. In addition, the combination of management and general education courses in the program help students apply skills in general management, critical thinking, logic, communication, and problem solving to workplace challenges.

This program also includes critical business courses that cover such topics as project management, determining client needs, working within a team environment and working within a deadline. The Bachelor of Science in Animation prepares students for entry-level positions including graphic artist, and assistant animator for Web-based or computer-based team projects.

Upon successful completion of the program of study, students should be able to:

• Manage an animation project from its conceptual stage to the final product presentation.
• Create animated content using industry standard tools.
• Apply laws of human motion, physics and psychology to 2D or 3D characters.
• Demonstrate expertise in life drawing and related rendering techniques.
• Discuss animation history.
• Apply audio and video production techniques to an animation project.
• Produce a demo reel.
• Demonstrate project management skills by determining client objectives, working within a deadline and working within a team environment.
