MAED/Curriculum and InstructionThe specialization in Curriculum and Instruction is an online graduate education degree for bachelor-prepared individuals currently teaching in a P-12 classroom environment who wish to develop and enhance their curriculum and instruction repertoire for the purposes of increasing student learning. The program encompasses the study of curricular planning and development with an integration of technology, assessment and evaluation practices, strategies for effective classroom instruction for a variety of learners, and critical issues within the field of education. The program provides a foundation for understanding and analyzing curriculum and instruction theories and philosophies. An in-depth analysis of standards is also explored with a focus on improving student learning. Key courses will explore the development of strategies for linking standards-based education to classroom curriculum and the creating standards-based performance assessment tasks for classrooms. Throughout the program, students will apply procedures for evaluating and recommend strategies for improving the quality and effectiveness of curriculum and instruction.
All applicants to this program are expected to meet the following admission requirements:
1) A regionally or nationally accredited U.S. bachelor’s degree 2) A cumulative graduate GPA of 2.5 or higher 3) 3 years of full time work experience 4) A minimum of 9 months K-12 Instructional or Teaching experience
